Fronni D’Alia (audio) 1.9 mb

This is an incredibly beautiful folk piece from the Basilicata region of Italy. It has 3 distinct parts the first is not actually folk, but written by clarinetist Nello Zanzara. The singing part is the actual folk piece. At the end of each verse there is a quick riff from the tammurriata Napoletana on the accordion.

I play chittara battente, bass, tamora, castanets, Jew’s harp, accordion and melodica besides singing 3 tracks.

The song is about a girl who has to get married and so, must do her hair. She has a very sick dog, but she doesn’t let it bark in the street.
